Procedure for the Recognition of Academic Achievements #

If you have changed universities or completed coursework abroad, you must have these achievements recognized by the Examination Board. To do so, please submit an informal, written, and signed request to the Examination Board of the Department of Geography at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin: Email: pruefungsausschuss.geographie@hu-berlin.de

This request must include the following parts:

  • A cover letter containing all required personal information (full name, email address, degree program, student ID number) as well as a statement explaining your request. Don’t forget to sign this letter. Alternatively, you can use the Examination committee application form.
  • A form in which you list the courses for which you are requesting recognition and may (except for the grade) suggest the module in which each course should be recognized. You can find the Preprint for the form here. If you wish to have coursework completed abroad recognized, you may also use the Erasmus form that you probably received in connection with your Learning Agreement. Please make sure to clearly add your name and student ID number on this form (as it does not contain designated fields for this information).
  • Certificates of completed coursework (Transcript of Records).
  • Module descriptions.

After your request has been processed, the Examination Board will inform the Examination Office and forward your documents there as well. If your coursework is recognized, it will be recorded in your academic account.

In case of questions or uncertainties, the responsible members of the Examination Board and the Erasmus Coordinator of the department are available for personal consultation during their office hours.
