Procedure for the Recognition of Academic Credits #

If you have changed universities or earned credits abroad, you must have them recognized by the Examination Committee. To do so, please send an informal, written and signed application to the Examination Committee of the Institute of Geography at HU Berlin: E-Mail: pruefungsausschuss.geographie@hu-berlin.de

This application consists of the following parts:

• An informal cover letter containing all required personal details (full name, email address, degree program, student ID number) as well as the reasons for your request. You can send this cover letter by email or by post.
• A form on which you list the courses you would like to have recognized and on which you can suggest (except for the grade!) the module in which each course should be recognized. You can find the template for the form here. If you would like to have credits earned abroad recognized, you can also use the Erasmus form that you probably received in connection with your Learning Agreement. In that case, please add your name and student ID number legibly on the form (as it has no field for this).
• The certificates of the credits earned (Transcript of Records).
• The module descriptions.

Once your application has been processed, the Examination Committee informs the Examination Office and also passes your documents on to it. If recognition is granted, your credits will be entered in your account.

If you have questions or are unsure about anything, the responsible members of the Examination Committee (during their office hours) and the institute’s Erasmus coordinator will be happy to advise you in person.
