Thesis colloquia #

The thesis colloquia represent a central component of the institute’s research and communication activities. Each research group organizes its own colloquium—sometimes in cooperation with other groups—in which students present the concepts and results of their final theses. Contributions from academic staff members and external guests may also be part of the program.

Overview and Registration #

An overview of the thesis colloquia can be found on AGNES in the course catalogue under “Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences” > “Institute of Geography” > “Thesis Colloquia.” Please make sure to register for the respective thesis colloquium via AGNES before the registration deadline.

Organization and Content #

The colloquia serve as research and communication workshops and are part of the single-major bachelor’s degree regulations (Module B12). Accordingly, the sessions include both concept-oriented presentations that serve as a basis for discussion (Research Workshop) and presentations of completed research results following the thesis (Communication Workshop). In the case of the master’s programs, the latter may also include formal defenses and thus constitute examination components.

The implementation of the final modules may vary depending on the research group and the respective supervisor. The specific details should be coordinated directly with the supervising examiner(s).
